LEXINGTON, Va. – Gardner-Webb wrestling remained on its hot streak, winning its second SoCon match in a row with a dominant 33-6 win at VMI Thursday night.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-4, 2-0 SoCon) and Keydets (1-4, 0-1 SoCon) made up a match previously postponed from January 8, with Gardner-Webb winning eight of the 10 bouts.
 
The match started at 133 pounds, with Todd Carter rolling to a 15-4 major decision over Cam Chicella. Trevon Majette followed with his own major decision (13-5) at 141 pounds and the 'Dogs were up 8-0 – setting the stage for a very impressive performance.
 
Corbin Dion cruised to an 8-2 decision at 149 pounds to bump the visitors' lead to 10-0 before the Keydets got a 9-6 win at 157 pounds. 2021 NCAA qualifier RJ Mosley got GWU back on track at 165 pounds with a 13-4 major decision and – after a 3-1 sudden victory for VMI at 174 pounds – the Runnin' Bulldogs put the pedal down.
 
Gardner-Webb's 2021 NCAA qualifier at 184 pounds, Jha'Quan Anderson, picked up a 5-1 decision for the 'Dogs and veteran Anthony Perrine came through with a pin early in the second period (3:44) at 197 pounds. Heavyweight Peyton McComas won his bout with a 6-1 decision and Aedyn Concepcion was awarded a forfeit at 125 pounds to cap the night.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs, who have won three of their last four duals, will hit the road again next Tuesday (January 25) at Appalachian State. That match is set for a 7:00 pm start in Boone. GWU will return home on Friday (January 28) to host Chattanooga at 7:00 pm in Paul Porter Arena (ESPN+).
